A St Mary woman has been charged by the police for allegedly pocketing more than $3 million that was deposited into her bank account in error and distributing the money to several persons, including a relative.
Charged with simple larceny, possession of criminal property and engaging in a transaction involving criminal property is 40-year-old Moneague Campbell of Salt-Cut in Boscobel.
Similar charges have been laid against her relative, Orane Campbell, who also lives in the same community.
The police report that in March 2026, Moneague allegedly received the money in her bank account in error.
It is further reported that, upon receiving the funds, she allegedly transferred portions of the money to several individuals, including her relative.
The police report that, following a conversation with the bank, she reportedly became unreachable, and her whereabouts were unknown.
A report was subsequently made to the police, and the woman was featured in the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Wanted Wednesday campaign.
Following investigations, the police say Orane was apprehended during a targeted operation, and Moneague subsequently turned herself in on Tuesday, October 27.
Both relatives were charged with the offences following interviews with investigators.
A court date is being finalised.
