The police in St Ann have charged four men in connection with an incident in which a man was held up at gunpoint and robbed of jewellery valued at approximately US$30,000 as he was leaving an event and subsequently extorted for the return of the items.

Charged with robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony, and extortion are 28-year-old Oshane Fitten, a musical engineer of Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew; 25-year-old Jordan Grant, of Red Hills, St Andrew; 26-year-old Miguel Thomas, otherwise called ‘Plummie’, a roofer of Portmore, St Catherine; and 26-year-old Antonio Wright, otherwise called ‘CJ’, a music producer of Bottomwood, Phoenix Park, St Catherine.

According to reports from the St Ann’s Bay police, about 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, Fitten and Grant allegedly held up the man at gunpoint and robbed him of jewellery as he was leaving an event in Priory.

The police say the men reportedly fled the scene in an awaiting truck.

A few days later, Grant allegedly contacted the man and demanded $2 million for the return of the stolen items.

According to the police, the man initially refused but later agreed to pay $1 million and arranged a meeting.

A report was subsequently made to the police, who intercepted and arrested all four men.

The police say Grant and Fitten were positively identified by the complainant as the men who robbed him of his chain and watch.

The four men were searched, and the stolen items were recovered, the police reported.

They were subsequently charged in connection with the incident.

Their court date is being finalised.
