Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has accused unnamed public sector workers of trying to “sabotage” government policies and programmes, warning that personnel changes are coming as his administration moves to meet the country’s needs.

Speaking at a special press briefing at Jamaica House on Tuesday, Holness said some people in the public sector “delay” and “derail” the Government’s agenda and that he would be moving to remove such obstacles.

“I don’t usually speak in extreme terms, and there are some subjects that it is better not to speak about, but more and more I am coming to the conclusion that there are persons in the public sector who are determined to sabotage, and I don’t say it lightly, delay, derail policies, programmes and initiatives of the Government,” he said.

“I see you,” Holness continued.

The Prime Minister said changes are coming in how people are deployed to boost performance.

He said he is preparing the country to expect the changes because it cannot be business as usual.

The changes should be understood as part of a Government reset to meet the needs of the country, Holness added.
