LASCO Financial Services Limited (LFSL) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development and grassroots sports with a donation of medical supplies to St Catherine-based corner league team Soccer Saints Football Club.

The contribution is aimed at strengthening the club’s ability to care for players and manage minor injuries sustained during training sessions and matches.

The donation forms part of LASCO Financial’s ongoing efforts to support organisations that make a positive impact in their communities. The supplies include gauze, Band-Aids, wipes, pain-relief gel, knee and wrist supports, and other essential first-aid items that will help the club respond to minor injuries and ensure players have access to basic medical care.

For Soccer Saints, the donation represents meaningful support for a club that has spent the past decade building its presence in local football competitions, while fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among its members.

Club manager Melville Lumley expressed gratitude for the partnership, noting that the club first approached LASCO Financial Services while seeking sponsorship support amid financial challenges.

“Soccer Saints is a corner league football team based in St Catherine. We’ve been here for 10 years. We have always been playing in different leagues in St Catherine and a corporate league, winning most of them. We, unfortunately, encountered some financial challenges, and so we started the conversation about sponsorship. LASCO Financial was open to it, and they have been very kind in doing their best to equip us with medical supplies,” Lumley shared.

He underscored the practical value of the donation, explaining that having the necessary medical items readily available would help the team respond more effectively to injuries and support player recovery.

“These medical supplies benefit us in the sense that when our boys are injured, we can get them back on the field as quickly as possible. This helps us to play better and win more games, and we’re very grateful to LASCO for that,” he added.

The donation also holds special significance for the club’s management team, which places considerable emphasis on unity, discipline and the family atmosphere shared among its players.

Gabrielle Thompson, assistant manager of Soccer Saints, described the team as a close-knit group whose passion for football extends beyond the field.

“The team is full of vibrant players. They’re very much dedicated to their game, and they look forward to every time they get to participate in all of the corner leagues. So it’s always a joy to see them out on the field, having fun, and off the field as well, because they are a family,” Thompson said.

She welcomed the donation as a valuable resource that will strengthen the club’s ability to provide support to players, particularly in situations where dedicated medical personnel are unavailable.

“I feel very elated, and I am extremely grateful to LASCO for this donation. This ensures that, in the absence of a nurse, I’ll be able to assist the players with their injuries. So I feel like it’s a good initiative. It’s a great donation, and a wonderful partnership,” she added.
