Mt Pleasant earn first win in Caribbean Cup defeating Portmore United 1-0

Mount Pleasant Football Academy picked up their first win in the 2026 Concacaf Caribbean Cup when they turned back reigning Jamaica Premier League champions Portmore United 1-0 on Wednesday night at the National Stadium.
Mt Pleasant captain Daniel Green scored the decider for the team, with a strike into an empty net in the 40th minute of the game.
Portmore were reduced to ten players in the 80th minute when goalkeeper Daviegh Payton was shown a straight red card after he was adjudged to have handled the ball outside the box and stopped a goalscoring opportunity for Warner Brown.
The result means Mt Pleasant now climb to third in the group standings with four points, moving past Portmore who fall to fourth on three.
Salcedo of the Dominican Republic sit atop the table with five points, with Cibao, also of the Dominican Republic, second in the group on four.
Cavalier sit at the foot of the table with two points.
