Jamaican footballer Ethan Pinnock set for £6m move from Brentford to Coventry

Jamaica international defender Ethan Pinnock is poised to leave Brentford for newly promoted Coventry City in a deal reportedly worth £6 million.

The proposed transfer comprises a £5 million fee, with a further £1 million available in add-ons, and would see the 33-year-old centre-back sign a three-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months.

Pinnock has been granted permission to travel for a medical as the move progresses.

He has made 28 senior appearances for Jamaica.

Pinnock, who is entering the final year of his Brentford contract, which runs until 2027, was not included in the squad for Saturday’s season-opening victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

If completed, the move would make Pinnock Coventry’s ninth signing of the summer and their second centre-back addition, following Aurele Amenda’s arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt in July.

Pinnock joined Brentford from Barnsley in 2019 and has since made 216 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists.

He also played a key role in Brentford’s 2020-21 Championship promotion campaign.
