Mayor of Falmouth Collen Gager says the refurbished fountain and Usain Bolt statue in the transformed Water Square in Falmouth are to be dedicated shortly.
The statue has been in place for some time now, and the fountain is now complete and ready to be turned on. Minister of Culture Olivia Grange is to arrange a date for the dedication ceremony,” he told The Gleaner.
The fountain, which has the statue in the middle, will feature solar-powered water spouts, while multicoloured lights shining on it will be an added attraction for cruise ship visitors.
“Already, I have noticed visitors posing for pictures and reading the storyboard talking about Usain by the statue,” Gager said.
The square was pedestrianised in 2011 to coincide with the arrival of cruise ships at the Falmouth Pier.
