Rodney Memorial building in Spanish Town robbed

The police have launched an investigation into a break-in and robbery at the Rodney Memorial building in Spanish Town, St Catherine, where thieves made off with several items valued at more than $1 million.
The building houses several government entities.
The police report that caretakers arrived at the building on Monday and found the locks smashed.
Checks revealed that two air-conditioning units were stolen from an old court office.
An air-conditioning condenser unit was also stolen from the Jamaica Archives Unit, while another condenser unit was taken from the National Identification and Registration Authority, formerly the National Identification and Registration Authority.
Copper wires valued at $750,000 were also stolen.
The value of some of the other missing items is still being calculated.
The matter was reported to the Spanish Town police.
