Man granted $800,000 bail in 2016 Greenwich Farm murder case

A St Andrew man charged with the 2016 stabbing death of a 62-year-old man during a fight was on Tuesday granted $800,000 bail with one or two sureties in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

As part of his bail, Andrew Anderson, a 39-year-old forklift operator of a Greenwich Farm address, who is charged with murder, was ordered to surrender his travel documents and report to the police on Mondays.

A stop order was also imposed.

Anderson is charged with the fatal stabbing of Junior Russell, of the same address.

In applying for bail, his attorney, Priscilla Jennings, argued that her client is not a flight risk and has a fixed place of abode with his family.

The court was shown a pre-charge bail report book covering the period from March 30, 2025, to September 19, 2025, a span of six months before he was charged.

Anderson was ordered to return to court on October 27.

Allegations are that on Thursday, July 28, 2016, Russell and Anderson had a dispute which became physical, and Russell was stabbed in the chest with a knife.

He collapsed.

Anderson reportedly fled the scene.

Russell was assisted to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation was launched, which resulted in Anderson being charged with murder on June 23, 2026, following a question-and-answer session.
