More charges have been laid against a St Mary man accused of robbing women he met through a dating app.
Forty-one-year-old Demoy Pennington, a bar operator of Gordon Hall, Epsom, St Mary, has been charged for allegedly stealing a woman's handbag and withdrawing money from her bank account using her bank card after the two went on a date in Portmore, St Catherine.
Pennington was on Monday charged with simple larceny and unauthorised access to computer data.
The police reported that Pennington and the woman became acquainted through a dating application before arranging to meet.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 3, Pennington reportedly picked up the woman in Kingston, and the pair travelled towards Hellshire Beach in Portmore, St Catherine.
According to the police, Pennington stopped at a business establishment along Port Henderson Road and asked the woman to go inside to purchase a bottle of water.
She reportedly left her handbag, which contained her mobile phone, bank card and other personal items, in the vehicle.
When the woman returned, both Pennington and the vehicle were gone, the police said.
A report was made to the police.
Investigations reportedly revealed that a withdrawal of $7,000 was made from the woman's account using her bank card, and several unsuccessful attempts were made to contact Pennington.
On Monday, July 6, Pennington was positively identified during an identification parade and was subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
The St Mary man was previously charged in connection with at least two other cases involving the alleged robbery of women he met through a dating app.
