A man was fatally shot by the police during an alleged confrontation in Manchester on Monday.

He has been identified as 26-year-old farmer Raheem Nelson, otherwise called ‘Richie’, of Straun district in the parish.

The police reported that the man was out on bail for a murder and was also a suspect in another murder case.

The police report that about 3:15 p.m., cops, acting on intelligence, went in search of a murder suspect on Wildman Street in Christiana.

They say the operation took the team to a bar, where the team was confronted by Richie, who the police say was armed with a gun.

The police say the cops took defensive action, and he was shot and injured.

The police reportedly seized the illegal gun.

They say he was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the police, Richie was wanted for the July 24 murder of a shopkeeper in Alston, Clarendon.

They added that he was out on bail for the September 4, 2024, murder of 29-year-old Romario White at a bar in Christiana, Manchester.
