DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC):
Both West Indies and India have been penalised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for slow over rates during Saturday’s third and final One-Day International.
India were fined 20 per cent of their match fees while West Indies were docked 10 per cent after being found four and two overs short, respectively, of the required over rate once time allowances were taken into account.
The match at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium lasted more than nine hours, with West Indies eventually securing a five-wicket victory to earn a consolation win in the three-match series.
The charges were laid by on-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Sam Nogajski, along with third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Virender Sharma.
Match referee Prakash Bhatt imposed the sanctions. An ICC statement said both captains pleaded guilty to the offences and accepted the proposed penalties.
