Audley Deidrick, president and chief executive officer of the Airports Authority of Jamaica (AAJ), is to retire from the organisation following more than 20 years of service.

The AAJ, in a statement today, said the transition was the result of a long-term succession plan developed by the board of directors and agreed on by both parties.

Deidrick is expected to proceed on pre-retirement leave at the end of this week.

The authority said the decision reflected a shared vision for the continued development of Jamaica's national aviation assets and the need to ensure a seamless leadership transition.

Deidrick joined the organisation in 2005 as vice-president of finance.

He subsequently served as senior vice-president with responsibility for finance, information and communication technology, human resource development and administration before being promoted to president and CEO in March 2015.

During his tenure as head of the authority, the AAJ said it achieved several milestones, including the concessioning of the Norman Manley International Airport and securitisation transactions involving both the Norman Manley International Airport and Sangster International Airport.

The board, management and staff expressed gratitude to Deidrick for his leadership and contribution to Jamaica's aviation sector, wishing him success in his next chapter.

The authority said it remained committed to developing and sustaining a world-class airport system to support national development, tourism, investment and connectivity.
