Two of four persons who were held in connection with the seizure of three illegal guns in Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine, were freed in the High Court Division of the Gun Court on Tuesday.

Those freed are businesswoman Shena Pryce and fisherman Kemar Bent, both of Old Harbour, St Catherine.

They were charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and being part of a criminal organisation.

The matter came up for mention before Judge Natalie Hart Hinds.

Attorneys-at-law Donahue Martin and Carole Phillips made submissions on their clients’ behalf during their appearance.

The prosecution offered no evidence after reviewing the matter, resulting in the acquittal of Pryce and Bent.

Allegations are that about 1:00 a.m. on January 21, 2024, the police, acting on information, intercepted a Toyota Probox motor car along a roadway in Old Harbour Bay.

The police reported that three loaded illegal nine-millimetre pistols were found in the car.

Four persons – two minors, along with Pryce and Bent – were arrested.

They were subsequently charged and placed before the St Catherine Parish Court, which saw the case being transferred to the Gun Court.

Pryce was granted $100,000 bail and Bent was given $150,000 bail.

The two juvenile offenders are set to reappear in the Gun Court on Tuesday.
