KINGSTON: Mona Preparatory School will host the 20th staging of its Invitational Track Meet on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Jamaica College Ashenheim Stadium, continuing a growing tradition of youth athletics and sporting excellence.
The annual meet, which has become a staple on the preparatory and primary school athletics calendar, is expected to attract schools from across Jamaica for a full day of competition on the track and in the field events.
Last year’s staging welcomed 36 participating schools and organisers are anticipating another strong turnout this year.
Principal of Mona Preparatory School, Citrine Dixon, said the meet continues to provide an important platform for student athletes to grow through sports while fostering camaraderie and discipline.
“This event continues to represent far more than competition. It is a celebration of excellence, teamwork, resilience and the vibrant spirit of youth athletics. We are proud to once again welcome schools from across the island to participate in what has become a highly anticipated annual event.”
The meet is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and will feature a range of track and field events across several age groups. Organisers say preparations are already under way to ensure a smooth and exciting staging for athletes, coaches, parents and supporters.
Sports Director Alfred Nelson noted that the Invitational continues to play a meaningful role in the development of young athletes at the preparatory level.
“The Mona Invitational has consistently created opportunities for students to test themselves in a competitive but encouraging environment. It also allows schools to build team spirit and expose their athletes to high-quality organisation and competition.”
The meet is being staged in association with Lucozade, Express Canteen and Benjamin’s.
Schools and track clubs wishing to participate in the meet are encouraged to register before the deadline of May 25, 2026.
