GC Foster Classic celebrates 25 years

The GC Foster Classic will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Saturday at the historic G.C. Foster College campus.

Over the past quarter-century, the GC Foster Classic has established itself as a critical fixture on Jamaica’s athletics calendar, showcasing the nation’s top high school talents alongside elite senior athletes in a highly competitive environment.

This milestone staging promises to deliver an elevated experience, with increased participation, enhanced competition, and a celebration of the event’s legacy in shaping Jamaica’s track and field success.

Co-chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Chester McCarthy, says, “The GC Foster Classic has played a pivotal role in the development of Jamaican athletics over the past 25 years. This anniversary is not just a celebration of longevity, but of impact, excellence, and opportunity. With the continued support of Adidas, we are poised to deliver one of the most memorable editions yet.”

Global sports brand Adidas continues its strong partnership with the meet as the main sponsor, reinforcing its commitment to the development of athletics in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Since its inception, the GC Foster Classic has served as a vital platform for emerging athletes to transition from high school competition to the elite level. Many of Jamaica’s standout performers have used the meet as a springboard to regional and international success.

The 25th anniversary edition will:

There is every intention by the organisers for the 2026 staging to focus on a comprehensive competition programme, while celebrating the history, impact, and future of the GC Foster Classic, with special recognitions and legacy moments planned throughout the day.
