Antecedent report requested for man allegedly held with ammo

An antecedent report has been requested for a St Catherine man who was allegedly held with several rounds of ammunition in his pocket.
It happened on Friday when Calvin Cottrell, 31, appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court.
Cottrell is charged with unauthorised possession of ammunition.
His attorney Shadae Bailey signalled her intention to apply for bail, but prosecutors objected, arguing that Cottrell resides in a community where gun crimes are rife and, as a result, more information about him was required.
He was remanded into custody by presiding judge Courtney Maxwell to allow for the antecedent report to be prepared.
It’s reported that Cottrell was stopped and searched during a snap police operation in Dempshire, Spanish Town about 11:30p.m. on August 15.
A transparent bag with eight rounds of ammunition was allegedly found in his pocket.
He is scheduled to return to court on October 6.
