Man dies in head-on collision along Tower Isle main road

The St Mary police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision along the Tower Isle main road on Sunday, which claimed the life of a 30-year-old man and left several other persons injured.

According to the police, shortly after 7:00 pm, a Honda CR-V was travelling from Port Maria towards Ocho Rios when, on reaching the vicinity of Columbus Avenue, it collided head-on with a Toyota Succeed travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Toyota sustained serious injuries and had to be removed from the wreckage with the assistance of personnel from the Port Maria Fire Department. He was later pronounced dead.

The man's identity has not been released, as the police are seeking to locate his wife.

Two children travelling in the Toyota Succeed were also injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Honda CR-V and his female passenger also sustained injuries and received medical attention.

Superintendent Anthony Wallace, head of the St Mary police division, said the circumstances surrounding the collision are being investigated.
