Security guard pleads guilty to stealing from pineapple farm where he was employed

A St Catherine security guard who was charged with stealing pineapples from the farm where he was employed has been convicted of praedial larceny.
Nicholas Hadlam pleaded guilty in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.
He was offered bail in the sum of $100,000 by Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle.
Hadlam was ordered to give his fingerprints to the police and report to the Linstead Police Station every Friday as part of his bail conditions.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on October 2.
The judge also ordered a social enquiry report.
The Clerk of Courts disclosed that on July 22, personnel from Tradewinds Citrus Company went to a pineapple farm near Bog Walk, in St Catherine, where Hadlam was assigned to watch the property.
He was seen picking pineapples and placing them in a bag.
When accosted, he initially denied stealing the pineapples, but later admitted to it.
The police were called and he was arrested and subsequently charged.
