Construction worker accused of having sex with a 12-y-o girl freed

A 58-year-old construction worker was freed of sexual offence charges after a jury returned a not-guilty verdict in the St Catherine Circuit Court on Wednesday.
 
He was a answering to charges of having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 and buggery, stemming from incidents which were alleged to have occurred in 2020.
 
The victim, who was 12 years old, at the time of the alleged crime was said to have contracted an infection. 
 
She was taken to get medical attention and the matter was reported to the police.
 
The man was  charged following a probe by police operatives assigned to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.
