Update | Two men charged for Denham Town shooting that left boy and his father dead and child injured

The two men who were taken into police custody in connection with the gun attack in Denham Town that left a three-year-old boy and his father dead and his eight-year-old brother injured have been charged.

They are 30-year-old Dwayne Bowen, otherwise called ‘Blacks’, a fish vendor of Sea Field, Guys Hill, St Mary, and 33-year-old Decone Mahoney, otherwise called ‘Rooney’ or ‘Squeeze’, a labourer of Lizard Town, Tivoli Gardens, Kingston.

Both men have been charged with two counts of murder, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

Killed in the attack was three-year-old Jayce Pinnock.

His father, 31-year-old shopkeeper Kerrio Pinnock, otherwise called ‘Bouye’, later succumbed to his injuries.

Reports from the Denham Town police are that about 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, Bowen and Mahoney entered the house where Jayce, his sibling, and their father were sleeping and opened gunfire at them before fleeing the area.

The police were alerted and the victims were transported to hospital, where Jayce succumbed a short while later. The other child was treated and released.

The father succumbed to his injuries on Monday, February 23, while being treated at hospital.

Bowen and Mahoney were later named as persons of interest following the attack.

They subsequently turned themselves in to the police.

Following questioning, they were charged on Thursday, March 12.

A court date is being finalised.
