A St Catherine man who is a self-professed spiritual healer has been charged for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl, while the teen’s grandmother has been charged for allegedly consulting a person who practises obeah.

The 31-year-old man, who the police say advertises his services on social media, has been charged with rape, sexual touching and practising obeah.

The grandmother is facing a charge of consulting a person practising obeah.

Allegations are that the accused promotes himself on social media as a spiritual healer who can help people who believe they are under a spiritual spell and need healing.

It is further alleged that, at about 1:00 p.m. on August 28, 2026, the accused was contacted by the woman, who requested his services.

The accused then allegedly gave her his address in Bog Walk, St Catherine.

It is reported that the teenage girl and her grandmother travelled to the address provided and that, on arrival, the accused allegedly took them to a shed on the premises, where he performed rituals on the child during which he sexually assaulted her.

The matter was reported to the police.

The police say the location was visited and several pieces of paraphernalia were seized from the premises.

The man was subsequently arrested and charged.
